In Our Own Voice: Older Adults and Mental Illness

In collaboration with the NYC Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), we will present In Our Own Voice - a unique and powerful presentation offering insight into the hope and recovery possible for people living with mental illness.  Two older adults with mental health conditions will share their personal stories, humanizing this misunderstood topic by demonstrating that it’s possible – and common – to live well with mental illness.

Please be sure to RSVP by clicking on the "Register" button on the left side of the event page.

Featured Speakers:

Cynthia Scott is a tireless mental health advocate and community educator who has been a part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City for over a decade. Full bio here

Glenn Speer grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and works in journalism and publishing.  He received a Ph.D. in History from the City University of New York Graduate Center and taught History aboard a US Navy aircraft carrier somewhere out on the Mediterranean.  Full bio here
